I was figuring somewhere around 50 percent, too. I saw a post on the official Spartan blog that put DNFs from last year's Vermont beast somewhere close to 40 percent, but I can't vouch for the accuracy of that figure. Spartan must have reliable numbers internally; I can't imagine why they wouldn't release them.
Monday: Upper-Body Strength and Obstacle Prep. Bird dog (5 sets x 10 reps) Pull-ups (5 sets to failure) Rows superset with floor presses (5 sets x 10 reps) Farmer carries (5 sets with 50 pounds for max distance) Crawling (5 sets x 2 minutes each) If you feel really dead take a day off, you’ll come back stronger. Here’s the break down: 1 long run 10-15 miles, 75% pace. 1 5k-3.5 miler, fastest pace possible. 2+ 5.5-7 milers, 85% pace (mixing in an Elliptical especially post death match day is a great way to get work in but help your legs actively recover.) Stood in line to sign into the Ultra Beast wall and get my neon green sweatband that distinguished the 345 of us crazies from the rest of the “regular” Beast runners. Said hi to so many Spartan friends. (Thank God for my Spartan family.) For some reason, I was confused about the start time, which turned out to be 30 minutes sooner than I In my opinion, this year was the most difficult Beast that Big Bear has ever had. Spartan Race had said it was a 12.2 mile course and about 5,200 feet of elevation gain. I clocked it at 13.44 miles with 4,829 feet of gain. No matter which one you believe (I choose my Garmin), it was brutal. If so, thats twister 3 times, boo! So I would assume if there is a double back, then the first loop will be 17 miles and the second loop will be 13 miles. That way they can close off that ultra only path for the 2nd lap. At least you won't accidentally miss the ultra only loop on the 2nd lap. . 43 361 394 20 57 40 46 88 11
